• Purpose of use: to help the periodontal bone regeneration and to block and protect the infiltration of epithelial cells during bone regeneration
   

• Non-absorbable membranes (PTFE, Teflon) are excellent for maintaining bone formation but require secondary surgery
   

• Absorbent membranes do not require secondary surgery but are relatively more likely to be infected by exposure
